Masters Swim FAQ

  • I am a beginner adult swimmer and can only do freestyle. May I participate too? Absolutely yes. The goal of the Master’s Program is to help you become a better swimmer and learn other strokes. We have two swim lanes devoted to beginner needs.
  • I am not able to swim for the full 75 minutes. Is that OK? May I participate if I only swim 30-45 minutes? Please come and swim as your schedule permits. Sarah starts “warm-up” at 6:15 AM (in pool stretching, warm up drills, and kicking) and the “main set” begins at 6:30 AM. If you must stop at 6:45 AM or 7 AM, this is completely OK.
  • I am an advanced swimmer. Will this program meet my needs? Yes, this Master’s Program should meet the needs of an advanced swimmer. With 75 minutes of swimming over the course of the summer, the two advanced swim lanes should increase to 2,800 to 3,200 meters daily.
  • I am uncertain if this Master’s Swim program is for me. May I try it out first? Yes, you may come out on any day during the week of June 9th and try out the program for free before registering. Please email Tyler Harding if you wish to try out the Master’s Program.
  • Is the $100 a good value for the three month DT Pool Master’s Swim program? Yes, the fee is an excellent value as you receive swiminstruction from a competitive, college level swimmer. Comparable Master Swim programs in N. VA are $315 for three months.
  • Do I need to buy any special equipment?  Yes, you will want to purchase a swim cap and have a good pair of swim goggles.  Intermediate and Advanced swimmers tend to bring swim paddlesand pull bouys for some morning drills. These are completely optional
